CAR BREAKS LEAD TO ELECTRONICS THEFTS

Car Breaks On The Rise

The Town of Pelham,, like many communities across the country, has witnessed an alarming increase in the theft of GPS units, IPODS, laptops and other valuable electronics from motor vehicles. The police department would like to warn all citizens to take extra precautions in securing items in their vehicles. GPS units should not be left on the dash. GPS mounting units should not be left on the windshield. Thiefs look for signs of electronics in cars to include the ring left on the windshield by suction cups and cables on the floor or plugged into cigarette lighters. You should record the make, model and serial numbers of your electronic units and keep them in a secure place. As a general rule, you should leave nothing of value in your car, nor should you leave items of value where they can be readily seen from outside the vehicle. Always lock your doors and park in well lighted areas.
