Plymouth Man Arrested Following Home Invasion and Non-Fatal Stabbing in East Cambridge

The Cambridge Police Department today announced that Mark Pincus, 35, Plymouth, was arrested this morning and faces several charges following an investigation into a morning home invasion and non-fatal stabbing in East Cambridge. The preliminary investigation determined that Pincus broke into a Sciarappa Street residence at approximately 8:20 a.m. this morning. After he entered the apartment and displayed a knife, the homeowner pushed Pincus into the hallway and out of her apartment. Pincus then reportedly ran from the area after 911 was called. While officers were searching for the defendant, officers were flagged down by a man in his 50s who was in his truck in the area of Cambridge and Fifth Street. A witness confirmed that Pincus approached the victim while he was sitting in his truck and stabbed – unprovoked -- the victim in the upper body. Pincus was reportedly within a block of the victim. Officers searched and quickly located Pincus and, after resisting arrest, he was ultimately taken into custody by the officers. A knife, which was located in his jean pocket, was recovered by officers. The victim of the stabbing was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim of the Sciarappa Street home invasion later confirmed that Pincus was also the same person who attempted to enter her home. Pincus faces the following charges: Home Invasion Armed Assault to Murder Resisting Arrest Assault and Battery on a Police Officer Carrying a Dangerous Weapon Providing a False Name/Social Security Number After an Arrest Pincus is expected to be arraigned in Cambridge District Court on Monday, November 8.
